Tips for Creating Your Very Own Backyard Water Park, Part 4

Last updated on October 2, 2019 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Now that you’ve decided on the materials, shape, and size of your main pool (see Parts 1, 2 & 3), it’s time to start adding those exciting extra features. These will be the items that set your backyard apart from a conventional backyard pool and truly transform it into a mini water park!

Wow Your Guests With Water Slides

When you go to a water park some of the most popular features are usually the water slides. They’re also a big hit for backyard water parks. If you’re thinking of installing one in your outdoor oasis, you can either choose a premade or customized water slide. Be prepared to spend significantly more money on a customized slide. Besides being the more economical choice, premade slides have the advantage of typically taking up less space and being easier to install than customized slides. Customized slides, however, can include more twists and turns and are often larger and more exciting than premade slides.

Add a Touch of Whimsy With Waterfalls

If you’re interested in creating a dreamy, tropical look and feel for your backyard water park, consider adding some waterfalls. These features can be connected to the main pool, to mini pools, or come straight out of your landscaping and cascade down into the pool below. The more complicated the design and the more difficult they are to construct, the more you can expect your waterfalls to cost. They definitely enhance the ambiance of your little piece of paradise.

Rest and Relax in Your Hot Tub

Including a hot tub in your water park will give you an ideal spot for unwinding after a long day at the office. Hot tubs vary widely in price depending on size and design. They can come with extra features such as color changing LED lights, extra jets, and even sound systems and automation. You could even surround your hot tub with landscaping features to make it into its own tranquil retreat away from the pool and water slide area.

Get Festive With a Fire Pit

If you love hosting cookouts or gathering by a warm fireside with family and friends, consider adding a fire pit to your backyard water park. They’re an ideal place to dry off and warm up after swimming. You can purchase a premade or customized fire pit. They come in a whole host of shapes and sizes as well as construction materials. Stone fire pits are prized for their durability and natural beauty.

You’ll want to try and integrate your fire pit area with the pool’s overall look and the surrounding landscaping. You can include a stone path leading over to the fire pit area or simply incorporate it right into your patio. Be sure to include ample seating around the fire pit so there’s plenty of room for your friends and family.

These extra features will go a long way toward upgrading your backyard pool area into a water park. In our final article, we’ll check out a few more items you could choose to add to make the transformation complete.
