McIlvain Lumber, a Legacy of Quality

Last updated on May 28, 2012 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Since 1798, McIlvain Lumber has been a major player in the wholesale lumber industry. We specialize in distributing both exotic and domestic hardwoods as well as quality softwood timber for a variety of needs. We also deal with hardwood plywood, including marine-grade plywood. Our architectural millwork operation is also an important division of our company.

No matter what wholesale lumber products you desire, McIlvain Lumber can fill your order, along with the benefits of a knowledgeable staff, importing expertise, and efficient delivery.

Knowledgeable Staff

In all four areas of McIlvain Lumber—hardwoods, softwoods, hardwood plywood, and architectural millwork—we ensure only the best quality products, along with knowledgeable staff that specialize in the particular products you desire.

As a family-owned and operated business, we pride ourselves on having in-depth knowledge of the process each species goes through, from the forest to the job site. With our many years of experience and our buyers’ involvement in our lumber sources throughout the nation and the world, we can confidently advise our customers about the best species for each project they undertake. We can also help you work within the constraints of your own budgets and recommend alternatives that are in greater supply.

Importing Expertise

Imported woods in general—and exotic hardwoods in particular—are undergoing major scrutiny in today’s world of Lacey Act violations. In addition to the legal issues at hand, many builders are increasingly aware and concerned about environmental and social responsibility. The good news is that McIlvain Lumber not only cares about these issues, but knows about them and how they relate to the lumber we acquire. Because our employees directly visit lumber mills across the globe to examine both the wood and the harvesting practices of our sources, we can assure our customers that they are not purchasing tainted lumber when they buy from us.

Our dealing directly with the sources of our lumber also impacts the quality and pricing we can offer our customers. We receive assurance that the orders we receive aren’t made up of pieces that have been rejected by other lumber suppliers because we buy directly from the sources.

Since we cut out any kind of “middle man,” we avoid the associated costs and can offer our customers lower prices than they might otherwise pay for such high-quality products or even for lesser-quality pieces.

Efficient Delivery

Because we keep over 7 million board feet of lumber in stock and supply our own fleet of trucks, we can ship your order to you, no matter its size or timeframe. While our trucks regularly deliver all along our nation’s east coast, we also make trips to the Midwest, the South, the Rockies, and even the West Coast.

Since we take care of our own packaging, scheduling, and quality control, we can assure our customers that they’ll receive the quality they’ve come to expect from McIlvain Lumber delivered right to their jobsite.

Whatever your lumber needs, you can be assured that McIlvain Lumber can provide world-class service, pricing, selection, and delivery for any and all projects you take on.
