In some ways it is hard to believe I have a child in preschool already. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday that my husband and I got married and now here we are with 3 little ones, the oldest of which is in preschool. It’s amazing how fast 6 1/2 years has gone by since our wedding day!
I used to think it quirky when I heard older people talking about how fast time flies. Current time always seems to go by at a snail’s pace when you’re waiting for a special event in the future. For example, days at home with my children sometimes seem like they will never come to an end as I look forward to my husband coming home. It really is true though, time does fly. (Or as a friend in college used to say, “Time’s fun when you’re having flies.”)
Something else I’ve heard a lot of older people mention is to enjoy my children now when they’re young because they grow up way to fast. You know, on a day to day basis it really feels like they will never be old enough to go to college. Oh, and when they are, I’ll probably have to go with them to change their Pull Ups! (As you can tell, I have one potty training. We recently bought a Potty Watch which is helping it to go a bit better.) I’m told this too will pass, and then I’ll miss it. We’ll see about that!
I must admit that one of the hardest things for my husband and I to remember is taking pictures, both still and video. We did great with the first one but now . . . terrible! There are times when I think it would be fun to have a camera such as the UC1301 Color 2.4 GHz Wireless CMOS Camera in a Teddy Bear or the CVD200 Mini Indoor Color Dome Camera (x10.com) that I could turn on and record some of the kids normal day to day interactions here at home. (The Teddy Bear camera is also recommended for when you have a new babysitter that you want to be able to check up on.)
I’ve found that when we do get the video camera out they think they need to act all fun and ham it up for the camera. It would really be nice to get some normal footage to have to look at later on in life. Besides that, with this kind of technology around, perhaps I’d have a way of settling those squabbles of who did it first! Oh to have an easy way to settle these matters!
I hear that teenage years can be just as difficult, if not more so, than preschool/toddler age. I must admit that I look forward to those years with mixed feelings. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens. in the meantime, I’ll try to enjoy the time I have with my boys. I want to have good memories to look back on some day.
