How to Plan a Small Kitchen Remodel

Last updated on July 19, 2011 by Sozo Staff 1 Comment

Are you looking for easy, breezy tips in small kitchen remodeling with cost-efficiency in your favor? Well, look no further. Listed below are four easy tips that are common to miss! Grab a pen and paper, it’s time to jot down the basics!

1. Multitask your space to erase clutter.

If there is anything that can be hung, combined, or made to fit in a smaller space, choose that model instead. Be realistic with your remodel to ensure your satisfaction.

Fit cabinets against the ceiling to double your use of space. Instead of a standalone oven, include an in-oven wall for your small kitchen remodel. Never use two items when one can perform both jobs just as well. As far as your stove goes, use a countertop that can be fitter over cabinets.

2. Choose compact versions of appliances and accessories whenever possible.

That mega-fridge that bulks beyond your “control?” Gone. Use a more compact, slim model refrigerator that evens out with your countertops. Purchase a dishwasher that can be mounted under a cabinet.

3. Ensure that you have enough storage.

By having sufficient storage with cabinets, drawers, and closet space, use what you have and store away that infrequently used Java Express. It’s okay if your husband purchased it for you; trust me, he’ll understand when he sees your results.

4. Enhance your remodel with sufficient lighting.

Most people enjoy their kitchen space with light to brighten their mood. Consider overhead panel lighting, as well as a few lights that hang beneath the cabinets to create small areas of direct light for detailed work.

After you’ve reviewed these four basic steps, it’s time to consider how much these changes will be. Luckily for you, these steps aren’t nearly as costly as it would be to expand your space. Simply use the space you have, but be more efficient.
