How To Buy Quality Flash Drives

Last updated on April 2, 2012 by Sozo Staff 1 Comment

Before venturing out and investing several thousand dollars purchasing a bundle of branded promotional flash drives, we’ve got a few tips to ensure your tech investment is successful. The USB flash drive industry can be confusing with jargon thrown left and right and applied seemingly randomly by different individuals. Here are two crucial aspects to pay particular attention to:

Flash Drive Speed

The speed of a Flash Drive is one of the only consistent details within the USB flash drive industry. No company can fake the speed of a flash drive; it is either fast or slow, regardless of what anyone says. Therefore, speed could be considered the perfect indicator of performance and quality. A flash drive performing at less than 3mb/s is a low-grade (B) or low tier (2 or 3) flash drive. This flash drive is most likely constructed of OEM, generic or recycled components with short life spans and poor performance quality. A flash drive with 3mb/s or more is A Grade or Tier 1 quality. 5mb/s is the highest speed flash drive with the highest quality components inside. The best way to test the speed of a flash drive, besides buying one and testing it yourself, is to request a screenshot. Any respectable company should provide this service.

Reputable Company

Finding a reputable company will always be the best step towards a quality product. Before purchasing anything, ask to speak with someone who can verify the quality of the product. Research the company online for customer testimonials and go with your gut. If the testimonial sounds fake, it probably is. We’ve personally seen a U.S. flash drive company plagiarizing the customer testimonials from a U.K. flash drive company’s website, while ascribing those copied testimonials to household brands. With the web, companies do anything to make themselves look artificially “good.” Be aware and don’t forget to ask plenty of questions. Does the customer service representative know what they are talking about? If not, then they were not trained well and that says something about the company they work for. Shoddy customer service backed by murky price points will lead to unpleasant surprises and wasted money.

How CFgear Can Help

CFgear, one of the largest custom flash drive companies in the U.S., is committed to excellent customer service. This includes correcting other companies’ mistakes and providing exactly what the customer wants. Traditionally, CFgear offers premium quality flash drives in large quantities.

However, if a customer is in need of extremely cheap flash drives for a project where the flash drive component quality is not important, CFgear can provide a cheap but very low quality option with no warranty attached. If a customer wants cheap flash drives with a short life span and recycled parts, CFgear has them. They will fulfill the order as it comes in, as long as the customer is completely knowledgeable about the transaction and is aware that they are sacrificing flash drive quality by opting for an incredibly low price.

On a similar note, if customers approach CFgear with low quality flash drives which they purchased from other flash drive manufacturers, CFgear will gladly take the information preloaded onto those drives and place it onto CFgear top quality USB drives. Please note that some flash drives from other companies may be so horrendously constructed that information may be very difficult if not impossible to retrieve. CFgear will do their best for every customer.

CFgear can also test USB flash drives purchased from other companies by their customers to verify hardware quality upon request before performing data preloading. A screenshot will be provided to validate the quality test.

All of these are quality services provided by CFgear to their customers. Contact them with questions or a quote at 1-800-371-1984 or shoot them an email at [email protected]

I had no idea there were different tiers of flash drives. Quality is important. Thanks!
