How Employee Instability Can Negatively Effect Your Sale

Last updated on January 2, 2012 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Any good truck business has close relationships with long-term employees who extol this fact to new comers. Negotiating to sell without informing your employees is a foreign concept in this situation. Leaving them oblivious to your current proceedings is actually your best option. The business in question thrives on the foundation of stability that you have provided through those positive employee relationships. Information regarding a sale will only undermine that stability. The future of the company depends on the continuance of its current employee stability and loyalty.

Selling a business relies heavily on the confidentiality of both seller and buyer. Transactions must be private and communication must be sensitive. Inviting your employees into that relationship will only hurt the situation. They may have good intentions when telling their family about the deal, but their family could tell the wrong person. This breach in confidentiality could cost you the sale and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Only those directly involved in the sale of the company should be a part of it. Turn to a trucking business broker with experience in transportation. The Tenney group will help instead of compromise your company’s stability.

Maintain the stability of your company by not altering the current environment, and your employees will thrive. Information on a potential sale will only cause worry, frustration and mistakes. The best way to protect your hard working employees is to leave their work day unaltered while you deal with the frustration of the sale. In the end, it will be better for everyone, because, if you are able to negotiate a successful sale, then the company will not suffer. If the company does not suffer, then the employees have no reason to be upset with your confidential transaction.
