Home Automation Basics Anyone Can Afford

Last updated on October 19, 2017 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Maybe in the past, Home Automation or a Home Security System has been beyond your reach; thankfully, times have definitely changed. X10 Home Automation and Home Security Systems have helped make today’s technology accessible to anyone with a smartphone. By utilizing the power already embedded in your home’s existing electrical wiring and Wifi signal, combined with your own Apple or Android device, you can achieve Home Automation and Home Security without breaking the bank. No professional installation or technological expertise is needed, and you won’t have to pay an extra monthly bill, either. Today, we’ll give you an overview of how the X10 Home Automation and Home Security Systems work.

X10 Home Automation Systems

X10 Driveway Sensor Kit

At X10, we use the term “system” a little loosely; you can easily build your own system by combining various Home Automation products; however, Home Automation Package Deals allow you to save money by bundling multiple products.  You can get started slowly by purchasing a single set, such as the 3-piece Driveway Sensor Alert Kit which alerts you whenever someone enters your driveway or front stoop. The Driveway Sensor Alert Kit includes one of each of these three products: TM751 Transceiver Module, MS16A ActiveEye Motion Sensor, and SC546A Remote Chime.  Since you can plug the Remote Chime in anywhere in your home, you can be sure to know when an expected or unexpected guest arrives.

At a similar price point, the 2-piece MiniTimer Control Kit essentially gets you a free LM465 Lamp Module, when you purchase an MT14A MiniTimer. The 64-Event MiniTimer can be programmed to schedule lights and other appliances to turn on or off. Setup is a breeze: all you have to do is literally take it out of the box and plug it in.

If you’re the go-big-or-go-home type, though, you may want to purchase the MAX Home Automation Complete System — which still costs well under $200!

23 Piece X10 Home Security Kit

Like X10 Home Automation products, you can purchase any X10 Home Security component individually; however, by bundling them, you can ensure you get the best price possible, as well as making sure you include a sampling of all 5 levels of protection. From the 8-piece Starter System to the 23-piece MAX System, all X10 bundled “systems” include at least one item representing each of the 5 levels:

1. Voice Dialer (which automatically calls up to 6 pre-programmed numbers, until someone answers)
2. Motion Detection (for high-traffic areas)
3. Perimeter Security sensors (especially designed for entry points)
4. Timed Lighting (to offer a lived-in look even when you are away from home)
5. Security Signs (arguably the most effective deterrent to intruders)

With a price point of under $100, the X10 Home Security Starter System is a great foundation for your Home Security System. Once you have your Starter System in place, you can build on that system with your choice of other X10 Security System products.
