With the change of weather, pumpkin spice, and debut of holiday music, comes a change in wardrobe. And the change in footwear might just be our favorite! If you have a separate budget category dedicated to shoes or if you base your outfits around your choice of footwear, you might have an addiction. But don’t worry; we won’t judge.
If there’s anything more enticing than a new pair of shoes, though, we think it just might be a new pair of fabulous boots! If you’re in the market for some new footwear this fall, take a look at these boot trends.
Boot Shapes & Styles
There’s no doubt about it: sometimes a girl’s just gotta let everyone know she means business! No one will doubt that when you don some lace-up combat boots or a pair with chunky platforms. Not only will you look taller, but your feet will appear bigger, gaining attention for your favorite new footwear! Platforms aren’t just trending for boots this season; platform loafers and strappy sandals are appearing on runways this season, too. How big is too big, when it comes to those chunky soles? According to fashionistas, that is not a real question.
Combat boots are taking all kinds of angles, including what’s being called warrior or apocalyptic-style boots. From ankle-length to knee-high styles with your choice of buckles, zippers, or laces, combat boots with various height heels are definitely the way to go. We especially adore them when paired with an ultra-feminine dress or skirt; consider clunky boots with flirty floral prints or delicate lace fabrics.
Lace-up boots aren’t limited to combat boots alone. While we’re seeing plenty with chunky heels and square toes, they also appear with skinny heels and seriously pointed toes. Slouch boots are also making a surprise appearance, especially when paired with other favorites from the 80s such as high-waisted jeans and mini dresses. Square toes promise to be more popular by far this season, though.
On-Trend Boot Colors & Fabrics
Now that you know the styles of boots that you can expect to see this season, let’s take a look at the colors and fabrics we’re seeing make a splash. First, you’ll feel warm and cozy with shearling fabrics both inside and out; again, this trend is not limited to boots but also appearing in shoes, including flats and even sandals (which are increasingly being seen well past Labor Day, by the way).
We’re seeing plenty of white and metallic colors this season, too, drawing extra attention, helping make sure your entire outfit is out to impress; these pair particularly well with light-colored skinny jeans or that little black dress. Another trend seen on runways is patterned boots — particularly animal prints (which tend to pair nicely with black leather — a classic look, for sure!) and florals ranging from delicate-looking ankle boots to brightly colored knee boots.
