Custom USB Flash Drives and Their Many Uses

Last updated on September 13, 2011 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Flash drives are regarded by many as being some of the most useful little pieces of equipment around today, and for good reason: Flash drives are very small and portable, meaning you can bring your stored data along with you wherever life takes you, and in spite of their small size, they’re also very, very durable. Flash drives have been known to last through very high falls, laundry cycles, and reportedly, even being run over by cars! This is in sharp contrast to CDs, of course, which are very easy to scratch and ruin.

Even better than regular flash drives are custom flash drives, which have many uses above and beyond those of ordinary flash drives. Below you will find the top three uses for custom USB flash drives:

1. Use them for marketing.

Whether you’re a business, a church, a band, a school, or some other organization that needs to market itself, custom flash drives are a great way to do just that. You can select the flash drive design, model, and color that best suit your needs, and then, using customization technology like CFgear’s, the design, logo, or message of your choice can be imprinted or engraved onto your flash drives. The drives can also be preloaded with any relevant information, which is not erasable, and this can help to boost your reputation among the drives’ recipients. For example, churches could load a digital copy of the Bible onto their drive, and bands could include a copy of their latest album and video footage from their last tour. Small businesses can use the preloading features to inform potential customers and clients of their services, business philosophy, prices, etc. Name recognition is essential for good marketing, and custom flash drives are a great way to help increase name recognition for your organization within your community.

2. Sell them for fundraising.

Once the drives have been customized with the design of your choice, they can then be sold via special order or at fairs or other community gatherings. Flash drives make excellent fundraising items due to the simple fact that they are so useful. Nearly everyone with a computer will find themselves in need of a flash drive at some point or another, and what a boost it would give to your organization’s popularity if the flash drive that they reached for was engraved with your logo and contact information! Unlike cookies, candy, and low quality oversized t-shirts, flash drives are a fundraising item that your customers will be excited to purchase and will use frequently for years to come.

3. Use them within your organization.

The customization options for flash drives are not only useful for flash drives that will be distributed outside of your organization, but they’re also helpful for drives that will be used for your group or business’s own internal operations. USB flash drives are a great alternative to paying for expensive server space, and they’re especially effective in helping employees, volunteers, and group members to stay organized, even when faced with the multitasking responsibilities that often arise when dealing with multiple clients or projects. The drives can be customized to reflect the information pertaining to different projects, departments, or individuals, or they can all include your logo, ensuring that should the drive ever leave your building, your organization’s name recognition will receive a boost.
