Spring and Summer 2019 are bringing some bright and playful color trends our way! Each season, the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report highlights the top colors seen from top designers for the season to come at the NY Fashion Week. So you can expect to see these colors throughout this season popping up from many designers — sometimes in combinations we’ve not seen before. Words like “joyful” and “uplifting” come to mind with these 12 colors, many of which are inspired by nature. According to the Pantone Institute, this season’s pallet “transcends seasonality” and illustrates “our desire for authenticity and our continued need for creativity and relatable, accessible design.” Whatever color you’re wearing, those priorities promise to stick around for much longer than a single season.
Green for Growth
Doesn’t everyone love all the green we see this time of year? Fashion brings that life-infused color into view with two shades of green that we see everywhere this season: Terrarium Moss and Pepper Stem. The more understated of the two, Terrarium Moss definitely brings to mind the kind of foliage you may have seen on your last nature hike. The brighter, more yellow-green shade of Pepper Stem adds a healthy dose of excitement for added fashion flair.
Golden, Happy Hues
Shades of gold and orange are certainly no stranger to this season’s trends. Aspen Gold offers a nod to summer sunshine, and another sunny shade, Mango Mojito, is closer to an orange. A third warm, sunny shade in this season’s lineup is Tumeric. Named for the spice that might be a great option for this grilling season, this bright orange definitely hints at a spicy attitude to any wardrobe choice. More on the red side of orange, Fiesta offers a sense of enthusiasm and passion that you’ll no doubt enjoy bringing to any summer gathering.
Darker Shades
While many of this season’s favorite colors are on the lighter, brighter side of the spectrum, Toffee creates a rich, delicious foundation to contrast with those lighter hues. Another urban favorite, Jester Red is both rich and elegant, creating a deep yet warm allure. In contrast with all the warm tones in this season’s pallet, Princess Blue and Peacock Pink make a grand entrance, and we expect to see these royal shades paired with the other colors in this guide in surprisingly stunning ways.
Pretty Pastels
While they don’t make up the majority of the Spring/Summer fashion favorites, these lighter colors are certainly not hiding, either. Sweet Lilac has a gentle look, combining lavender and pink. Living Coral has a golden undertone for a color that coordinates well with the richer golden colors seen this season.
If you’re afraid to invest too much in trendy colors, we recommend buying classic basic pieces in neutral tones that will stand the test of time and accessorizing them with seasonal favorites.
