Budget-Friendly Poolside Upgrades

Last updated on April 2, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Depending on your budget, you may be able to upgrade your backyard swimming pool for less than you may realize. For under $5,000, you could really improve your pool’s appearance or efficiency. Even for under $1,000, you could expand your pool’s potential quite a bit. What’s even more remarkable is that for less than $500, there are some pretty remarkable upgrades you could do.

If you’re looking to put your money into the space surrounding your swimming pool rather than the pool itself, it’s your lucky day, because we have some budget-savvy ideas for that as well. (Yeah, we’re awesome like that.)

Poolside Fire Pit

Combining the best of both worlds, you can have the natural element of fire near that of water for a well-balanced ambiance. While a basic fire feature can be purchased for just $200 or so and easily set up anywhere away from structures and flammable materials, you can also have a more extravagant custom fire pit installed for up to $4,000. And of course, a poolside fire pit is only one element in your backyard landscaping — of which your swimming pool is the centerpiece.

Poolside Furnishings

You plan to spend plenty of time in the water, enjoying the many emotional and physical benefits of water activities. However, there will be times to sit near the pool as well, allowing you to keep tabs on the kids, to enjoy the soothing appearance of your pool, or both. In addition to providing the practical benefit of a place to sit and to set your beverage, poolside patio furniture can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor space. From brightly colored synthetics to natural materials, there’s plenty of flexibility here, ranging in price from $100 or so for a single lounge chair to $2,500 for a full patio set.

Poolside Adventure

We won’t go into the many varieties of diving boards, water slides, or climbing walls, but those popular swimming pool upgrades definitely make a splash!

Pool Upgrade Decisions

Like most pool owners, you may have to prioritize the types of swimming pool and poolside area upgrades you do this season — but that doesn’t mean you can’t dream big about next year and the next! Decide what’s most important to you: functional design enhancements, improvements to visual appeal, items that offer additional comfort, or energy-saving possibilities? Then make a list of your priority purchases and go off that list the next time you save up enough to make an upgrade!

And no matter what level of upgrade you decide to purchase, remind yourself about how much money you’ll be saving on all the things you won’t be buying because you have a pool!

Of course, the enjoyment you get out of your pool is not directly related to the amount of items you purchase for it. The best addition to your backyard swimming pool is easy to determine: it’s you!
